1
Q

Definiton of anthropometry

A

Study of the measurement of the human body in terms of the dimensions of bone, muscle, and adipose (fat) tissue.

2
Q

Position defined relative to an object or system of objects. It is the average position of all the parts of the system, weighted according to their masses.

A

Center of mass

Q

True or false?

During a body movement, the location of the whole body’s CoM is constant.

A

False. When the body segments are in motion the body’s CoM will be continuously changing

4
Q

True or false?

During a body movement, the location of the segment’s CoM are constant.

A

True. The segments are considered rigid segments, so, during movement they do not undergo deformation.

Q

True or false?

The choice of the coordinate system has an
influence on the location of the CoM.

A

False. The coordinates may change, but the location will be the same regardless the origin and orientation of the coordinate system.

Q

What factors affect the body stability?

A
  • Height of the center of gravity with regard to the ground (the nearer to the support area is the C.G., the more stable it is).
  • Size of the base of support (the larger the base area, the more stable it is).
  • Location of the vertical imaginary line passing through the C.G. in relation to the support area (the closer the line to the center of the base area, the greater is the stability).
  • Weight of the body (a heavier body has greater stability).

Q

Definition of Base of support (BoS)

A

Area beneath an object or person that includes every point of contact that the object or person makes with the supporting surface.

Q

Definition of mass moment of inertia (I)

A

Quantitative measure of the rotational inertia of a body—i.e., the opposition that the body exhibits to having its speed of rotation about an axis altered by the application of a torque (turning force).

Q

Radius of gyration

A

The distance from the place where the total mass of the body can be concentrated to produce the same moment of inertia for the given axis of rotation
