Anti-Ice, Rain Flashcards
(28 cards)
Purpose of window OVERHEAT lights?
Illuminated amber - overheat condition detected
Note: OVERHEAT light also illuminate if electrical power is interrupted
Purpose of Window Heat ON lights (green)?
Illuminated - window hear applied
Extinguished
- system at correct temperature
- switch is OFF
- system failure occurred
- overheat detected
WINDOW HEAT test switch purpose?
Spring loaded to neutral
OVHT - simulate overheat condition
PWR TEST - provides confidence test/ verify operation of window heat system
When should window heat PWR TEST be accomplished?
When ANY window heat ON light extinguished but the associated WINDOW HEAR switch is ON
When shouldn’t window heat PWR TEST be performed?
When all ON lights are illuminated
After performing PWR TEST, what is pilot action if any window heat ON lights remain extinguished?
Window heat system is considered INOPERATIVE
Observe maximum airspeed limit of 250kts below 10000ft
Purpose of window heat PWR TEST?
Verifies operation of window heat system is
What happens when PROBE HEAT is in AUTO position?
Power automatically supplied to both A & B probe heat systems when;
EITHER engine is running
What is the purpose of TAT TEST switch? Probe heat test switch l
Push - applied electrical power to PROBES on the ground
Purpose of Probe Heat Lights?
CAPT PITOT, FO PITOT, ALPHA VANE, ELEV PITOT, TAT PITOT, AUX PITOT
Illuminated Amber
- related probe NOT HEATED (FCOM2)
- probe heat FAILURE (QRH)
What is purpose of amber COWL ANTI-ICE lights?
Indicates Overpressure In duct downstream of engine cowl anti ice valve
What are the Blue COWL VALVE OPEN Lights indications?
Bright
- valves in TRANSIT
- valve position DISAGREE with ENGINE ANTI-ICE switch position
Dim - anti ice valve is OPEN
What happens when ENGINE ANTI-ICE is positioned to ON?
- Anti ice valve OPENS
- Stick shaker logic set for icing conditions
- Green TAI indication shows on engine display
Difference between Green & Yellow TAI indications on Engine Display?
Green - anti ice valve is opened when switch is ON
Amber - anti ice valve is not following position of ENG ANTI-ICE switch
What happens when WING ANTI-ICE switch ON in flight?
Wing anti ice valve OPENS
Stick shaker logic is set for icing conditions
What happens to stick shaker logic after subsequent WING ANTI-ICE switch position?
Stick shaker logic remains set for icing condition regardless of switch position
What happens when WING ANTI-ICE switch ON on ground?
Valves OPEN if thrust below takeoff warning and duct temperature is below thermal switch activation temperature
Valves CLOSE if thrust above takeoff warning OR thermal switch is activated
What happened to WING ANTI-ICE switch if positioned ON during lift off?
Trips to OFF position
Purpose of Window heat temperature controller?
Maintain windows 1 and 2 at correct temperature for maximum window strength in the event of bird strike
What happens when window overheat condition detected?
Electrical power to heat windows 1&2 is AUTOMATICALLY removed
How are Probes and Alpha Vanes heated?
Electrically
How are static ports heated?
Static ports are not heated
How are Engine Cowl Lips heated?
Anti icing via engine bleed air
What happens when ENG ANTI ICE position OFF?
Stick Shaker logic returns to Normal
TAI indications on engine display disappear
COWL VALVE OPEN light turns bright-extinguished
