Mechanism of Action:
Use: Available orally. Atrial, AV junctional, and ventricular tachyarrhythmias to convert back to normal sinus or as maintence to prevent arrhythmia.
Side Effects: Blurry vision, tinnitus, headache, psychosis

Lidocaine (Xylocaine)

Mechanism of Action:
Use: IV only, can terminate V-Fib and V-Tach, and prevent V-Fib after cardioversion in setting of acute ischemia.
Side Effects: CNS changes (nystagmus, slurred speech, drowsiness)
Contraindications: Routine use may increase mortality by increasing insidence of asystole.
