- SE: Yellowing & enamel damage of teeth, GI disturbances

Tigecycline

Rifampin
- Inhibitor of nucleic acid metabolism (binds to Prokaryotic RNA pol, preventing INITIATION of transcription)
- distributes well to CNS (tx meningitis)
- enters macrophages (hitches ride to hard-to-reach pathogens)

Tx: intracellular bacteria when tetracyclines not available (pregnant women)

- Inhibitor of nucleic acid metabolism
- MOA: Inhibits tetrahydrofolate production

- Inhibitor of nucleic acid metabolism by depolarizing membrane potential.
- affects gram +
- inactivated by pulmonary surfactant (Can’t tx pneumonia)
