Proper Noun
The name of a person, place, or thing; a proper noun starts with a capital letter.
Eg. Melbourne, Mr Atkinson
Common Noun
Less specific and refer to types of people, places, feelings. Most nouns are common nouns, which can be subdivided further into concrete, abstract, and collective nouns.
Eg. city, man, planet.
Concrete Noun
Refer to things that do exist physically- things that we can see and feel.
Eg. computer, hand, tiger.
Collective Noun
The name given to a group of persons or things.
Eg. herd, gaggle
Abstract Noun
The name of something you feel, or something that could exist in your mind; you cannot see or touch an abstract noun.
Eg. joy, humiliation
Technical Noun
A noun that is used in a specific area of study.
Eg. centimetre, mammal
Pronouns
A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. It stands in for the noun but cannot exist without a clear antecedent i.e. the word for which the pronoun stands.
Possessive Pronouns
Personal Pronouns
A short word we use as a simple substitute for the proper name of a person. Personal pronouns show us the grammatical person, gender, number, and case of the noun it replaces.
Eg.
Person –> Singular –> Plural
1st –> I –> we
2nd –> you –> you
1st –> me –> us
