A

A major interest group, founded in 1833, to advocate for the abolition of the the institution of slavery throughout the United States.
People who support the black lives matter movement can be considered as a modern/younger version of the American Anti-Slavery Society.

Womens Christian Temperance Union

A

A public interest group created in 1874 with the goal of outlawing the sale of liquor. Its activities include prayer groups, protest marches, lobbying, and the destruction of saloons.
A typical person of this group today would be conservative and not like Friday night parties.

The Grange

A

Founded in 1867 as an educational organization for farmers. The Grange evolved into the first truly national interest group by working to protect the political and economic concerns of farming communities and rural areas.
When I visited my mothers side of the family in a small town in Illinois it was full of farmers and country people the number of corn fields out numbered the number of houses, this part of America would benefit from the Grange.

A

Interested group representatives who seeks to influence legislation that would benefit his or her organization or client through political and/or financial persuasion.
A lobbyist is like the greedy person at the dinner table that will sweet talk you for your biscuit.

Progressive movement

A

A broad group of political and social activist from the 1980s to the 1920s who opposed corruption in government, supported regulation of monopolies, and sought improvement of socioeconomic conditions.
The hippies for sure got inspiration from this group because they want things to be peaceful with no corruption.

A

An organization that seeks a collective good that if achieved will not selectively and materially benefit group members.
If I were to take part in this group I would have a better social standing in the community because I would be working for others and not myself.

American Federation of Labor

A
Founded in 1886 the AFL brought skilled workers from several trades together into one stronger national organization for the first time. It merged in 1955 with the Congress of Industrial Organizations to form the AFL-CIO
This group is like when the teacher tells the class to get into groups and you and your friends are all good at the subject and you guys are stronger together and you finish fast.

This group is like the bullies at school that want to regulate every thing and everyone in the school, often their negative energy will combat the growth of happy children.

This man is the type to want to have bible study every night, not bad but he is just very religious.

A

A Conservative religious interest group credited with helping to mobilize conservative Evangelical Christian voters from its founding in 1978 through the presidency of Ronald Reagan.
In this group they would want you to go to bible study during lunch and all they would talk about is trump and the lord.

This man is like the people that would pressure you to talk about your politics during the Sunday service.

The purge mask is based off of these people because they are the most vanilla people out there.

These people were most likely the same people to advocate for teachers to carry guns at school.

This group reminds me of the people that were brave enough during the industrial revolution to fight the tough people that want to work them to death.

Social Capital is like the problem solvers or shrink that you visit to solve your problems.

Civic Virtue reminds me of people who volunteer because they care about the condition of the people around them.

The theory that political power is distributed among a wide array of diverse and competing interest groups.
This theory is like mild form of socialism because its all about equality for everyone.

If there were to be a huge change in how people were educated about politics then there would most likely be the emergence of a new political party.

The theory that public policies are the result of narrowly defined exchanges or transactions among political actors.
This theory is like when only some people in a group project do the work so they make the rules and they do the work while everyone else follows.

A

Something of value that cannot be withheld from a nonmember of a group, for example a tax write-off or a better environment.
The collective good is like entering into a gated community where you would think that everything is perfect and that there are lots of benefits.

This group would be your financial advisor that will help you and will look after your money for you.

This is like when a parent will pay for extra things in their kids project so that it will stand out from the others.

This is similar to a child that will persuade their parent to get them to see a situation their way.

My dad is similar to this man because being a social worker for kids with special needs, on a daily basis he has to make sure that kids all around riverside county are safe.

I would enjoy having a patron to pay for my expenses and to support me.

Free Rider Problem

A

Potential members who fail to join a group because they can get the benefit or collective good, sought by the group without contributing the effort.
When you work on a group project its important that everyone works, however with someone people they want to just do nothing and that is similar to the free rider problem.

A

A 1995 federal law that employed a strict definition of lobbyist and established strict reporting requirements on the activities of lobbyists.
Today with all of the fake news and the problem that face book is having they should have a system close to lobbying disclosure act.

Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007

A

Lobbying reform banning gifts to members of Congress and their staffs, toughening disclosure requirements, and increasing time limits on moving from the federal government to the private sector.
When people start a huge chapter in their life like opening an important account or getting into a relationship they should have a disclosure part so that they know what they are getting into.
