Macbeth is supposed to be playing it off ‘cool’ but is hallucinating banquo. the hallucinations of the dagger and ghost of banquo show his crumbling sense of reality even ‘brave’ macbeth cannot distinguish apprearance and reality- his disguise reveals itself through his morbid hallucinations
