Q

What is the area of a rectangle or square?

A

Area = Length X Width.
Length is long side and width is short side. For a square they are the same!

Q

How do you find the area if an oddly shaped figure?

A

Split it up into figures you can find the area of and ADD the areas together. OR you might have to subtract an unshaded area from the larger shaded + unshaded area.

Q

Things to remember:

A
  1. Ignore unnecessary numbers on the figure.
  2. Make sure you have the measurement of a side correct…watch out for the tricks when only a part of the side is marked with a measurement.
    3.If you are stuck try to remember a problem you did before that looks like that one.
  3. Only if you have left over time check your work.
  4. USE your calculator.
