What is a claim?
The author’s main argument or position on the topic.
What is evidence?
Facts, data, statistics, expert opinions, or examples used to support the claim.
What is the reasoning?
The logical explanation connecting the evidence to the claim.
What is a counterargument?
Acknowledging and addressing opposing viewpoints to strengthen the main argument.
What is a rebuttal?
Responding to a counterargument by explaining why the author’s position is still more valid.
What is an introduction?
Hook to grab the reader’s attention Background information on the topic
What is a thesis?
A statement clearly stating the writer’s position

Each paragraph focuses on a single supporting argument:
-Topic sentence introducing the main point of the paragraph
