Define Firearm
Anything from which any shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile can be discharged by force of explosives and Includes:
anything that has been adapted so that it can be used to discharge a shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile by force of explosive;
OR
anything which is not at that time capable of discharging any shot, bullet, missile, or other projectile but which by its completion or the replacement of any component or the correction or repair of any defects would be a firearm;
OR
any firearm which is for the time being dismantled or partially dismantled; OR any especially dangerous air gun.
Define Airgun
- Air rifle
- Air pistol
- Weapon from which, by the use of gas or compressed air (and not by force of explosive), any shot, bullet,
missile, or other projectile can be discharged.
Define Imitation Firearm
Anything that has the appearance of being a firearm, whether or not it is capable of discharging any shot, bullet, etc.
Define Pistol
Any firearm that is designed or adapted to be held and fired with one hand and includes any
firearm that is less than 762mm in length.
Define Restricted Weapon
Any weapon declared a restricted weapon by the Governor-General.

Any substance capable of exploding or producing a pyrotechnic effect.

Define Semi-Automatic Firearm
A firearm that if it is loaded, with each pull of the trigger it:
(a) fires a cartridge and ejects its case and
(b) chambers another cartridge (unless all cartridges loaded have been fired)
What are the 4 firearms licence categories and descriptions.
A-Full licence for the possession and use of conventional firearms (not pistols or restricted weapons).
B-Pistols, providing the owner is a member of a pistol club
C-Collections, restricted weapons and use of weapons in theatrical performances.
D-Firearms dealers.
Firearms licence age 3 age groups and rules.
0-15 Cannot own a firearm or air gun
16-17 Requires licence for firearm/airgun
18+ Requires a licence for firearm
7 Duties are licence holders
-Keep their licence legible and undamaged.
-Produce it to the police on demand, just like a driver licence.
-If they do not have the licence with them, produce it at a police station within seven days of the demand.
-If they change their address, notify the police within 30 days.
-Report to the police, in writing, the circumstances of any theft, loss or destruction of the firearm.
-If death or injury results from the use of the firearm, report the circumstances to the police as soon as practicable.
-Licences need to be renewed every 10 years unless revoked, surrendered or previously have not held a firearms licence. In these cases, they must be renewed every 5 years.

Define Carries
The person actually has the firearm on or about them. It includes conveying or bearing. It has a narrower meaning than possession.
Define Possession
Has knowledge of it, and had control of it and could go and get it when he wished.
Define The presumption of possession
Anyone occupying land or a building, or driving a vehicle where a firearm, weapon, or explosive is found is presumed to be in possession of it—unless they can prove it wasn’t theirs and someone else possessed it.
