Arrhythmia Flashcards
(16 cards)
What are the types of arrhythmias
fast slow regular irregular
How are arrhythmias usually named
named by the site origin such as atria, AV node, SA node (sinus), and ventricles AND then name the type of arrhythmia
What is sinus tachycardia
originates in the SA node, heart rhythm with elevated rate of impulses originating from the sinoatrial node, defined as a rate greater than 100 beats/min (bpm) in an average adult.
What is atrial tachycardia
a type of atrial arrhythmia in which the heart’s electrical impulse comes from an ectopic atrial pacemaker rather than from the SA node. Atrial tachycardias are characterized by very regular rates ranging from 140–220 bpm
What is supraventricular tachycardia

what is atrial fibrillation

What is atrial flutter

What is important about the action potential of pacemaker cells
in phase for they have a spontaneous depolarization because calcium, as well as a small sodium current is moving into the cell
What can types of anti-arrhythmic drugs are pacemaker cell affected by
- calcium channel blockers (type 4 anti-arrhythmic drug) 2. beta blockers (type 2 anti-arrhythmic drug)
What is notable about non-pacemaker cells or myocytes
they have a stable resting potential on phase 4 of the action potential
What type of action potential name its part (1-4)
