This artist of the High Renissance was the youngest out of the three artists who were working at the Vatican. He would usually paint Madonnas and children (the child is Christ), he would paint Renissance backgrounds as well with costumes, and he would also paint open landscapes.
The Sistine Madonna - This painting was one of characteristics that Raphael painted. The angels in it are well known and reproduced frequently.
The School of Athens - it is apart of a series that Raphael painted. The one shown is on the right and is about Philosophy while the one on the left is about poetry. The amazing thing about this painting is that everyone is identified.
