The beginning of the modern world, a time of combining the best idea from the past with new discoveries in science, medicine and art. Images depicted religious and historical content in heroic and idealized realism.

“Less is more”-art composed of simple shapes and colour are used to communicate strong emotional effects to the viewer.

Art which emphasizes the personal, emotional and dramatic, using inventive compositions and techniques. Eg. less blending of paint with clearly visible brush strokes, the subject matter was erotic, historical and literary.

Art which emphasizes the industrial, machine like qualities of modern times speed, energy.

A translation of cubism into 3 dimensional sculpture, using a variety of materials (wood, glass, steel) rather than modelling or subtraction of mass (clay) there was an addition of linear materials.

Art in which the subject is broken apart and reassembled in abstract form emphasizing geometric shapes, creating a fractured image
What is hyper realism (photorealism)
“More than normal realism” a the image are so clear that they look like a photograph, the size detail and complexity of the art leads the view to see reality as it exist, not as one think it exist, artist worked from photographs, a reaction against abstraction.

A style of painting which depicts a candid glimpse of a subject, with an emphasizing geometric shapes creating a fractured image.

Design to envelop and overpower the viewer, who is invited to walk through the simple shapes, a modern answer to ancient monuments, eg. Stonehenge, a revolt against art being only commercial galleries.
