A

(jovially) But the whole thing’s different now
After inspector is gone and they discover there is no Goole in Act 3, Birling is happy and his conscience is guilt free showing the lack of integirty in his character as he does not care about the sadistic nature of his family as there is no legal consequence. Stage direction of jovially also proposes the fact that Birling is joyous as his reputation is saved. ignore lower class
