Kd responsible for 2 lower orifices and pelvic floor - if not firm, allows for escape -> incontinence, premature ejaculations, leucorrhea, nocturnal emissions

Causes
• Old age

• Pale face
• Poor hearing
• SORE BACK AND KNEES
• Frequent, clear urine

A

FEELING COLD SENSATIONS but NOT COLD TO THE TOUCH (sign of deficiency - DDx from Excess Cold in which feels Cold sensation and Cold to the touch)
• Cold extremities
• Poor circulation
• Fatigue
• Pale face
• EDEMA (Yang is movement - here lack movement - so pooling of fluid)
• Slow pulse
• Swollen/flabby (relatively more Yin, hence more substance), pale tongue with moist coat (DDx w/ Damp Excess tongue - swollen tongue w/ sticky coat)
• Loose stools with UNDIGESTED FOOD

a hidden pulse (very deep pulse palpable on deepest level)

of cold and raw foods (DDx w/ Spleen Yang Def)
(both are better with warm and hot drinks)

Signs
• ABDOMINAL PAIN (more in SI than Spleen - to DDx from Spleen)
• Desire for hot drinks
• Likes pressure on
abdomen
• Borborygmi
• Diarrhea
• PALE AND COPIOUS URINE (Specific to SI - to DDx from Spleen)
• Tongue Pale body with white coating
• Pulses Deep, slow and weak

• Soreness of the back
• COLD KNEES

• Erectile dysfunction (CANNOT ACHIEVE AN ERECTION)

• 5 AM DIARRHEA OR “COCK CROW'S DIARRHEA”

A

Causes
• Prolonged cough (if prolonged productive cough you are losing sputum and fluoid therefore losing Yin)
• Heat disorders which
injure the lung (also burn off or evaporate fluid therefore losing Yin)
• Prolonged dryness (dry environment or even talking for a long period of time!)

Signs
• DRY COUGH
• DIFFICULT TO EXPECTORATE OR SMALL AMOUNTS OF STICKY SPUTUM
• With blood-tinged
sputum (if Yin Deficiency is showing a lot of heat)
• Dry mouth and throat
• Afternoon fever
• Malar flush
• Night sweats
• Heat sensation in 5
centres
• Tongue Red body with a dry coat or little coating and maybe cracks or PEELING
