(11 cards)
The Declaration Of Human Rights:
To make sure that slavery did not happen in the modern world.
So everyone had a standard to mark their actions against.
So they all knew what behaviour was right and what actions were wrong.
Human Rights:
The first part of the Human Rights is that we are all equal. We are all born free. We have our own thoughts and ideas. We should all be treated the same way.
Evidence that women do have equal rights:
Women’s employment rates have increased by 70%.
Women councillors receive £50,000 a year.
Evidence that women do not have equal rights:
10-30% of women earn 20% less than men.
Women aged 15-24 earn half of a full man’s wage.
Female elected governors are under-represented.
Until lately women were not allowed to be in the front line at war.
Rights:
There are many different denominations of Christians. They all believe in Jesus but show their faith to him in different ways. For example; The Church of England and the Catholic Church are two different denominations.
Priest:
The Priest is the head of the Catholic Church.
The Queen:
The Queen is the head of the Catholic Church.
Sexist Jesus? XD:
Contextual factors suggest that Jesus was not sexist because at that time people wouldn’t have listened to women and maybe he thought going forward to the future Human Rights was more important.
Church of England Christians think:
Jesus treated women equal in the Gospels.
God created both genders at the same time.
Roman Catholics think:
Men can only be Priests because all of the apostles were male.
Jesus chose twelve men to be apostles, so the Church has no right to change that pattern.
Jewish Women:
Traditionally women have a Sacred role - They bear children, run the home and take responsibility for their children’s Jewish upbringing. The woman passes on Jewish Values and it is because of the mother’s Jewish faith (not the fathers) that a child is born Jewish.
