Difference between a leader and a manager?

A

A manager is someone who gives orders, using autocratic leadership.
A leader is someone who has to inspire others to follow them. A leader knows when and how to use delgative, autocratic, and democratic styles of leadership. A manager is only ever autocratic.

A

A

A

LCS are specialised in foot and mounted surveillance and patrolling. LCS are expected to also be able to conduct defensive and offensive operations.

What is the main function of a GSO?

A

An Infantry GSO commands a platoon. Overseeing their welfare and capability, utilising military tactics in exercise and combat situations, and managing the complex aspects of being part of a major fighting force in an administrative capacity. Infantry GSO lead from the front and must be able to inspire their troops.

What combat role does a GSO play

A

The infantry seek out and close with the enemy, capture, kill, the enemy. Seize and hold ground and repel attacks, by day or night. Regardless of weather or terrain. Infantry are the core combat element of the army.

A

Induction briefs, x-Ray’s, blood test, issue of equipment, pay and allowances, maintaining barracks, dental checks, inoculations, army policy on drugs, harassment, discipline, work safety, leave and removal entitlements

A

The need for all ADF members to be able to deploy to a high standard of skills and fitness at short notice during times of conflict, crisis, or disaster

A

A

Maximise ADF combat power through the provision of offensive and suppressive indirect fire support. Coordinate and conduct surveillance and target acquisition and ground based air defence.

What does an Armoured Corps Officer do?

A

Command around 6 vehicles. Leads direct attack and reconnaissance missions as well as supplying armoured mobility to infantry. Corps officers must have technical and tactical knowledge, high standards of leadership and command ability, be able to quickly analyse complex and changing situations. A detailed knowledge of Light Cav troops and their operations. Must be able to inspire.
