16
Q

Malocclusion

A

Overjet (associated w/class I or II)

  • Horizontal plane: front teeth should be 1-3mm from lower teeth
  • overjet is when front teeth are more than 3mm from lower teeth
  • skeletal overjet- jaw involved
17
Q

Functional overjet

A

class I but front teeth are tapping out (can be from excessive paci, thumb sucking, sippy cup use)

18
Q

Overbit

Anterior Open Bite

Crossbite

A

vertical malocclusion in which front teeth overlap bottom teeth

Anterior Open Bite: has an impact on labial closure

Crossbit: impacts the platal vault

19
Q

Hard Palate

High palate

Wide vault

Narrow

A

High: some are higher than others but only too high when tongue can not reach it

Wide: may influence stabilization, may make speech sound “slushy”

Narrow: may limit the ability of the tongue to move, limited operating space
