What are the nursing models for holistic assessment?

A

Activities of daily life, Roper et al 1980 - communication, safe environment, breathing, eating and drinking, washing, dressing, working, playing sleeping
Casey’s partnership model of paediatric nursing, Casey 1988 - partnership with child, family and health care staff
Common assessment framework for children in need and their families - child safeguarding and promoting welfare

What are the common paediatric assessment tools?

A

PEWS - paediatric early warning signs chart, to provide age-appropriate baseline, monitor changes, identify children at risk of deterioration
Neurovascular chart - looks at pain, sensation, motor function and perfusion (colour, temp, capillary refill, swelling, pulses)
Child red book - documenting child’s weight, height, vaccinations and important information
STAMP - screening tool for malnutrition
GCS scale - assesses for neurological, children with a brain injury, looks at eye opening, verbal response, and motor response
FLACC - pain assessment tool, looks at face, legs, activity, cry and consolability
NCCPC - pain assessment tool, looks at vocal, social, facial, activity, body, limbs, physiological, eating, sleeping
