(10 cards)

1
Q

What were the three main points of Dalton’s atomic theory?

Q

How did Thompson discover the first subatomic particle?

A

Discovered the electron, To test the properties of the particles, Thomson placed two oppositely-charged electric plates around the cathode ray. The cathode ray was deflected away from the negatively-charged electric plate and toward the positively-charged plate. This indicated that the cathode ray was composed of negatively-charged particles.

Q

What conclusions did rutherford draw from his gold foil experiment?

A

Discovered the nucleus because the fine beams that he shot at the atom during testing hit something often towards the center of the atom proving an abundance.
