Head

What does Medial mean?
Midline
What does Lateral mean?
Away from midline
What does Intermediate mean?
Between 2 reference points
What does Ipsilateral mean?
On the same side
What does Contralateral mean?
On opposite ends
What does Proximal mean?
Closer to the trunk of the body
What does Distal mean?
Farther from the trunk of the body

Closer to the outside of the body

More inside of the body

Walls of an organ / cavity / head bone

Refers to organs
How does the Sagittal Plane divide the body?
Into Left & Right parts
How does the Frontal Plane divide the body?
Into Anterior (front) & Posterior (Back) parts
How does the Transverse Plane divide the body?
Into Superior (top) & Inferior (bottom)
How does the Oblique Plane divide the body?
Divides the body at an angle
