Atrovent contraindication

A

Hypersensitivity to atrovent, atropine or atropine derivatives

Not to be used as the primary treatment for bronchospasm

Atrovent action

A

Atrovent causes bronchodialtion and decreases respiratory secretions through competitive inhibition of cholinergic receptors on bronchial smooth muscles. Atrovent also abolishes vagally mediated reflex bronchospasm.

A

Adult
500 mcg in 3 ml saline via nebulizer

Pediatric
250 mcg in 3 ml saline via nebulizer

A

Asthma (in combination with other bronchodilators)
