A

It supports the nature nurture debate
-By comparing this individuals to neurotypical controls we can see the effects that abnormalitys in genetics can have on our psychology and physicality, providing support for the nature side of the debate by arguing our genetics determine our behaviour

What is a limitation of research into atypical sex chromosome patterns

A

May not fully support the nature side of the debate
-The changes in physcial apparence e.g the prebubescent stature of girls with Turners syndrome may mean they are treated like children by teachers and parents, affecting their social development as well as they cognitive abilites hance why they have lowered mathmatic skills

What is a strength of research into atypical patterns?

A

It raises awareness of the disorders, allowing us to know fully how to detect the symptoms leadint to earlier diagnosis and better ability to manage symptoms.
-studies have found early diagnosis provides you better ability to manage symptoms compared to those who were diagnosed later in life
-real world application

What is a limitation of atypical patterns

A

Sampling issue
-Gathering research loften means gathering individuals with observable characteristics which may distort the characteristics of indivduals with the conditions meaning that those with less severe symptoms are not diagnosed and so do not get treatment that they need
-Boada found that boys with klinefelters did not have significant cognitive or psychological problems
