What is the hierarchy of Australia wine regions?

A
  • The broadest is South Eastern Australia, which takes in the whole of New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania and sectors of Queensland and South Australia.
  • Next come individual states
  • Each state is divided into zones
  • Each zone is divided into regions, and then subregions
  • There is one Super Zone: the Adelaide Super Zone, which encompasses the zones of the Mount Lofty Ranges, Fleurieu, and Barossa
  • Note: a region can extend across zonal boundaries
