What is a referendum
A referendum is a vote that over 18s vote in

What day does a federal election occur
Saturdays between 8am and 6pm
Why did this year’s election take so long to be announced
Because the voting was so close that they couldn’t find a clear winner.
It usually takes 3-4 hours but this year it took 8 days
What does the federal government do to protect the environment
They protect important and heritage national sites such as the Great Barrier Reef. They will have an impact on the businesses that plan to ruin or affect the environment
What does the state governments do to help the environment
They are responsible for air quality, water quality, residential noise and forestry management
Unicameral
A system of parliament with 1 house, branch, leg etc.
Coalition
An alliance between two political parties that want to increase their chance of being elected
