Autopilot Flashcards

1
Q

Control loops

A

~the inner closed loop is stability system, detetcs attitude disturbance and correct to them
~outer loop, provides info to innner loop to allow it to make changes to altitude and heating

Q

Three axis

A

~the picth and roll controll channels are the prumary channels
~rudder channels works in unison with the roll channel to enable coordinated turns
~fed wiht info from the AFDS MCP and the FMS
~a 3axis autpilot has 3 inner loops (pitch ,roll and yaw) and 2 outer loops (pitch and roll)

A 3 AXIS AUTOPILOT CAN:
~capture and hold alt, heading ,vertical speed and speed
~capture vor ,ils ,g/s
~fly an autoland
~vetivcal and lateral profiles from the fmc

10
Q
A

Primary flight contrls moved by servomotors
Input is singlaled electricallzu but the actuator is moved hyd
There is a risk of exscessive contrl inputs due to lack of aerodynamics feedback in the contorl

11
Q
A

~parallel : the actuator moves the cpntrol surface but also supplies feedback to the contrl column to allow it to move whiist under autopilot

~series; the actuator moves the contorl surface ,but not the control coloumn whilst under autpilit

Q

Lnav

A

If within 3nm and the heading is in the direction of the ttrack the a/c will automatically capture the fligh route

If outside the 3nm ditance ,crew must intercept the track with 90 degrees

Q

Cws (control wheel steering)

A

This mode allows the roll or pitch while a/p is engaged

17
Q

Csw

A

When csw is engaged the authrotole should not be engaged .

18
Q

Touch control steering

A

It is selceted by pressing and holding a button on the control coloum
~ap remians engegd but the ap is disc from the actuators

19
Q

Reversion

A

~automatic disengaging of a mode for one of the following reasons:
~require data for the mode is no longer availble
~a parametere is changed
~mode mismanegment

20
Q

Vor flight mode3s

A

~compare current radial with the required radial
Determines:
~distance from facility
~rate pf change of radial
~direction of turn
~magnitude of turn
!approprite bank angle

Q

Lnav

A
22
Q

Vnav take off

A

Wroks differently in different phase of flight
~safety speed is the critcal factor
~vnav manitains the most economical climb
