B-777 Flashcards
(40 cards)
When must the captain make the landing?
- CAT II/III approaches
- Reduced vis approaches requiring use of HUD
- Cat I with High Mins Captain
Stabilized Approach Criteria
- final landing configuration
- all briefings & checklists complete
- descent angle & rate are appropriate for type of approach being flown (all available landing aids ILS,VASI,PAPI, etc must be used)
- vertical and lateral displacement from normal approach path is in accordance with CFM tolerances
- sink rate no greater than 1000 FPM and if an approach requires greater, a special briefing shall be conducted
- airspeed Vapp or target with a variance no greater than +10 and no less than -5 kts. momentary and minor deviations are only tolerated if immediate corrections are made
- as airplane crosses runway threshold it should be on target airspeed within +5 kts and positioned to make a normal landing
When is autoland required?
All Cat II/III approaches
When is a Coupled Approach required?
-All non-ILS until adequate visual reference is acquired
-All Cat II/III Approaches
-Cat I High-mins Captains
* Recommended Cat I < 3/4 (4000RVR/1200M)
or Cat I < 2400RVR/600m but use of FD,AP, or HUD to DA is required
Define the Decision Region and it’s tolerances
It’s between 500ft above TDZE and touchdown
- Maximum localizer deviation is 1/3 of a dot
- Maximum glideslope deviation is 1/2 of a dot
- No sustained oscillations about the localizer or the glideslope are allowed

OAT on the ground, for takeoff, or TAT in flight is 10°C or below and visible moisture in any form is present.
Visible moisture is defined as:
A form of precipitation such as clouds or fog with visibility of 1 mile or less rain, snow, sleet, or ice crystals.
OAT is 10°C or below when operating on ramps taxiways or runways where surface snow, ice, standing water, or slush maybe ingested.
