B3. How genes code for protein Qs Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
Explain the role of mRNA in making proteins?
A
The mRNA carries a copy of the coded instructions in a gene out of the nucleus. It then send the instructions to the ribosomes to make new proteins.
2
Q
What is complementary base paring?
A
A is always paired with T
C is always paired with G
3
Q
What determines how a protein will fold up into a particular shape?
A
The coded information in the gene determines the shape and function of a protein.
4
Q
Why is the shape of a protein molecule very important?
A
All proteins have a specific shape, this enables them to carry out their function.
