B4 Flashcards

1
Q

How does transpiration increase with higher light intensity

A

Stomata close in the dark and open in the light

More light = more open stomata = more water evaporating

Q

How does increased temperature increase transpiration

A

Higher temperature = faster particles

Water molecules move faster -> evaporate quicker

Q

How does increased air movement increase transpiration

A

Air moving over leaf moves evaporated water
Uneven levels of water
Diffusion happens to increase evaporated water outside leaf to make levels even

Q

How does decreased humidity increase transpiration

A

Humidity is evaporated water outside leaf
Less humidity means the water levels outside are less than water levels inside plant
Transpiration increases to make it even
