What is a communicable disease
They are caused by pathogens such as bacteria and viruses that can be passed from one person to another e.g. tuberculosis and flu
What is a virus
Viruses are even smaller than bacteria. They usually have regular shapes. Viruses cause diseases in every type of living organism
How do pathogens cause disease in bacteria?
They cause disease by binary fission where the bacteria split in two and spread rapidly
What is Transpiration?
When the stomata are open, plants lose water vapour through them as well. The water evaporates from the cells lining the air spaces and then passes out through the stomata by diffusion.
What do phloem do?
Transports sucrose and amino acids through the leaves
What is translocation?
The phloem transports sucrose and amino acids up and down the plant
