Q

What is the evolution of pepper moths?

A

Before the 19th century most moths were light but there were some dark moths due to a mutation. These were easily seen by birds and eaten. However during the Industrial Revolution many trees became covered in soot allowing black moths to camouflage so more of them survived. After several years, dark peppered moths became more common than pale moths in urban areas
