Pathogen
A microorganism that is capable of entering body and cause disease or infection
Pathogenic Disease
A disease caused by organisms such as bacteria, virus, fungi, parasites
WHat conditions do bacteria need to survive?

Define bacteria
Microscopic single celled organisms that can exist anywhere and in extreme conditions
Can grow and reproduce in ideal conditions
2 types of bacteria
Pathogenic (harmful)
Non-pathogenic (not harmful, often beneficial)

Your body’s ability to destroy pathogens that enter body
Define Bloodbourne pathogen
pathogens that are spread by blood/body fluids

organisms that live on or inside other organisms and contribute nothing beneficial to that organism
