What is prokaryote?
A prokaryote is a single-celled organism whose cell lacks a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles. The word prokaryote comes from the Ancient Greek πρό, meaning ‘before’, and κάρυον, meaning ‘nut’ or ‘kernel’.
What is Bacilli?
Bacillus is a genus of Gram-positive, rod-shaped bacteria, a member of the phylum Bacillota, with 266 named species. The term is also used to descri n nbmbe the shape of other so-shaped bacteria; and the plural Bacilli is the name of the class of bacteria to which this genus belongs.
What is Cocci?
Cocci are spherical or round-shaped bacteria. Bacteria are of several shapes, and based on their morphology, they can be classified into – Cocci – They are typically spherical or oval-shaped. Bacilli – They are rod-shaped. Spirochaetes – They are slender and coiled.
What is Spirilla?
A bacterium with rigid spiral (helical) structure (not easily band, not flexible), thick, long, and move with flagella, 6–15 μm long and spiral in shape is called spirillum.
What is Binary Fission?
A form of asexual reproduction in a single-celled organism by which one cell of the same size.
What is Endospore?
A thick-walled protective spore that forms inside a bacterial cell and resists harsh condition.
What is Nitrogen Fixation?
Nitrogen fixation is the process by which atmospheric nitrogen gas (N2) is converted into a usable form, like ammonia (NH3), by specialized microorganisms, allowing plants to absorb and utilize it for growth.
What is Bioremediation?
The biological treatment of hazardous waste by living organisms.
The biological treatment of hazardous waste by living organisms.
A medicine used to kill bacteria and other microorganisms.
What is Pathogenic bacteria?
Bacteria that cause disease
What is Virus?
A microscopic particle that gets inside a cell and often destroys the cell.
What is Host?
An organism form which a parasite takes food or shelter.
