Bandura Ross & Ross Flashcards

1
Q

What is the aim to banduras study?

A

To investigate the social learning theory and to see if children would imitate aggressive behaviour in a later situation, even when they observed the behaviour in a different environment and the model was no longer present.

Q

What are the 4 hypotheses for bandura?

A
  1. Children observing an aggressive model are morenlikely to imitate agg behaviour.
  2. Children who observe a non-agg model are less likely to imitate agg behaviour.
  3. Subjects are more likely to imitate behaviour when observing a same sex model.
  4. Male subjects are more likely to show agg behaviour than girls.

Q

What was the procedure to banduras study?

A

Phase 1 was modelling, chilren put into either agg or non-agg condition or control (was not specified).
Phase 2 was agg arousal, children taken to a room with nice toys for 2 minutes and told that the nice toys were being saved for other children so they had to leave.
Phase 3 was test for delayed imitation, children taken back into a roo, with nice and not nice toys and observer noted down whether they i
Were imitative, not imitative or partially imitative.

Q

Banduras results?

A
  1. Subjects who saw agg model were more likely to imitate agg behaviour.
  2. Subjects who saw the non agg model were less likely yo imitate agg behaviour.
  3. Subjects were more likely to imitate behaviour seen in a same sex model.
  4. Boys were more likely to imitate agg behaviour than females unless shown a female model.

Q

What is the conclusion to banduras study?
