- Most basic unit of language which unites all the morphological variants of a single word
- The form of a linguistic item which is given when it occurs on its own. Often the form used for a dictionary entry.
- The general meaning of the word. . We can describe this as what we usually think of as contained in a dictionary entry for the word in question.
- A word´s referent is the object where it´s stands for on a specific situation and changes every time the word is used in a different object
- The relationship between a word and the non-linguistic, ‘outside’ world
- Additional meaning which arises due to the associations a word has. Does not affect the sense, the reference or dennotation.
