Basic Physics: Faraday's Law Flashcards
(9 cards)
What law describes the currents produced by a changing magnetic field
Faraday’s law of induction
What is Faraday’s first law?
A change in magnetic field while in the presence of a coil of wire will produce a voltage
What is Faraday’s second law?
The amount of induction is equal to the rate of changing flux and the number of wire coils.
What 2 factors can affect the voltages produced in a coil of wire when thinking about Faraday’s law?
the speed we are moving the magnetic field and the strength of this changing magnetic field
True or false: tissue is considered electrically conductive?
True
True or false: when moving a patient through magnetic flux, voltages can be produced in the optic nerve demonstrating visually seeing flashing lights?
True
What are magnetophosphenes?
patient experiencing flashing lights due to moving a patient through magnetic flux
In addition to magnetophosphenes, what other biological consideration is there for moving a patient through the magnetic field of an MRI machine?
PNS or Peripheral Nerve Stimulation - the induction of current in human tissue during an MRI exam causing discomfort or muscle twitching.
