Axial Skeleton
Segments of skeletons that made up hindlimbs and forelimbs.
Appendicular Skeleton
Skeletons that are not attached to the main structure but stand alone e.g. os penis, os cordis
Splanchnic Skeleton
The upper part of head skeleton
Skull
Jaw bone
Mandible
Neck bones (7 are common, except sloths, birds)
Cervical Vertebrae
Bones that are attached to the ribs (13 in dogs, but varies in other species)
Thoracic Vertebrae
Bones that are near the abdomen (7 in dogs)
Lumbar Vertebrae
Fused bone that is attached to pelvic bone (3 in dogs)
Sacrum
Tail bones (btwn. 1 - 20)
Coccygeal Vertebrae
A ventral bone where all ribs meet
Sternum
A.k.a. shoulder blade which lies on the upper lateral thoracic area
Scupula
Joint which connects scupula to humerus
Shoulder joint
Cranial bone attached to humerus
Radius
Caudal bone attached to humerus
Ulna
Wrist bones
Carpus
Bones extending from wrist bones
Metacarpus
Bones that extend from metacarpus and metatarsus
Phalanges
Hip bone
Pelvic bone
Bone attached to pelvic bone (Thigh bone)
Femur
Joint btwn. hip bone and femur
Hip joint
Cranial bone attached to femur
Tibia
Caudal bone attached to femur
Fibula
Joint which connects humerus to ulna and radius
Elbow joint
