Monster’s Attribute
What do the Stars represent at the top of a monster card?
The monster’s level
Where can you find the “Type” of a monster card?
In the top of the text box. Underneath the monster’s picture.
What is the difference between a pale-yellowish monster card and an darker-orangish monster card.
The yellowish monster card is a “Normal” monster and the orangish monster card is an “effect” monster. “Normal” monster cards do not have effects.
What is the difference between Attack Position monsters and Defense position monsters?
Attack Position is Vertical. Defense Position is Horizontal
Where can a Monster’s Attack and Defense Stats be found?
On the bottom right of the card.
Where can monster cards be played? (Excluding extra monster zones and pendulum zones).
They can be summoned to a monster zone which are located in the top half of each player’s board.
Where can spell/trap cards be played?
They can be played in the spell/trap zone which are in the bottom half of the board. They can also be played in the field spell zone if it’s a field spell card.
How many spell/trap cards can each player activate per turn?
Each player is allowed to activate as many spell/trap cards as long as they have the means to do so. They must have the cards to activate and they must be activated “appropriately”.
When can a trap card be activated?
Anytime after the end phase of the turn the card is set (assuming all requirements for the card are met)
Which Values are used when an Attack Position Monster attacks a Defense Position Monster?
The ATK Value is used for the Attack position monster while the DEF Value is used for the Defense position monster.
Which Values are used when an Attack Position Monster attacks an Attack Position Monster?
The ATK values are used for both monsters.
Can a Monster attack if the opponent does not control a monster? If so, how?
Yes. A monster can attack the opponent directly in which case the monster’s ATK Value is subtracted from the opponent’s Life Points.
What happens to a spell/trap card after it is used?
A spell or trap card will be sent to the graveyard after it is used unless it is a “field” (windmill symbol) spell card, “equip” (plus symbol) spell card, or “continuous” (infinity symbol) spell/trap card.
Can you activate a trap card the same turn it is set?
No.
Can you activate a Spell card the same turn it is set?
Yes. Unless it is a “Quick-Play” (Lightning bolt symbol) spell in which case it will be treated in the same manner as a trap card after it is set.
