Q

How many types of hypoxia are there?

A

Hypoxic - “altitude hypoxia” lack of oxygen absorbed by the body due atmospheric conditions

Hypemic - blood is not able to carry a sufficient amount of oxygen to the body’s cells. anemia, co2 poisoning

Stagnant - Oxygen deficiency in the body due to poor circulation of the blood. Caused by high G forces

Hystotoxic - Inability for the body to use oxygen due to alcohol or poisoning

16
Q

Basicmed?

A

Allows you to fly with just a driver’s license and a physical exam by any doctor.

17
Q

What’s basic empty weight?

A

Basic empty weight includes the airframe, engine, fixed equipment, unusable fuel, full oil and other items necessary for all flights. The basic empty weight does not include pilot, payload (passengers and freigh), or ballast (for balance) or usable fuel.

18
Q

What if i find something not working during my preflight?

A

Ask:

Do I have an MEL? If so you must operate under all applicable conditions and limitations

NO MEL?

  1. Verify equipment is not required
  2. Discard or Deactivate
  3. PIC decision go/no go
19
Q

How do i verify equipment is not required if not under MEL?

A
  1. TCSD - Type Certificate Data Sheet
  2. KOEL - Kinds of equipment Lists
  3. Required Day/Night VFR equipment
  4. AD’s
20
Q

How do I discard/deactivate equipment?

A
  • Discard, placard inop and log the required maintenance according to FAR’s
  • Deactivate the item, placard according to FAR’s and log the maintenance
21
Q

If clock is broken, can I fly?

A

It is airworthy but 91.213 says I should
1) Remove (but students cant)
2) Disable/placard inop
So you have to label inop then you can fly

22
Q

If nav lights break during a flight, do we need for night flight? Were in Blithe and no one can help

A

Part 43 replacing a bulb is part of preventative maintenance. As long as you don’t change weight and balance, its considered preventative.

Logbook entry in maintenance log w/ pilot cert

23
Q

How do we get current airport conditions?

A

METAR - refreshed at 55 mins past the hour
ATIS - recorded info with non-control info
AWOS - Updates every minute

24
Q

3 stages of thunderstorm?

A

Cumulus
Mature
Dissipating

25
Q

3 requirements for a thunderstorm?

A

Lifting Force
Updraft
Moisture

26
Q

How far does the FAA require us to stay from a Tstorm?

A

20 nautical miles from anvil

27
Q

What type of Ice is cessna certified for?

A

None

28
Q

What kinds of Ice are there?

A

Rime
Clear
Mixed

29
Q

The sky is clear and it is freezing at the surface, can I go fly?

A

Yes

30
Q

I’m going west bound and there’s a mountain at 8,600 feet, what altitude can I climb to to clear the obstacle by 1,000 feet?

A

I do not have to go with even thousands and add 500 because I can fly VFR anywhere from surface -3000 feet without meeting the altitude restrictions. The mountain is ground level and I can therefore climb to 9,600 to clear it

31
Q

What is considered night time and what is it used for by the FAA

A

1) Sunset to Sunrise - navigation lights are required
2) Civil Twilight - logging night flight
3) 1 Hour after sunset 1 hour before sunrise - Recent flight experience

32
Q

Symptoms of hypoxia

A

Light headed
Fatigue
Euphoria
Cyanosis

33
Q

What is hyperventilation?

A

Lack of carbon dioxide

34
Q

Privileges and limitations of private pilot?

A

-cant fly for hire
- must pay pro rata expenses
- can fly for charity and get reimbursed for fuel
-

35
Q

What documents are required onboard the aircraft?

A
ARROWED
A - airworthiness
R - Registration
R- Radio license
O- Operating handbook
W- Weight and Balance
E - External Data Plate
D - Deviation card
