What happened during the year 632CE and 655CE?

After Prophet Muhammad’s unfortunate death, Prophet Muhammad did leave any note or any mention of who should be the next leader. Muslims had a disagreement due to this and a schism occurred, one side wanted the next leader to be a descendant of Prophet Muhammad and the other side wanted a leader to be elected by the community. The first leader after Prophet Muhammad’s death was Aku Bakr. He was a close friend of Muhammad and was given the name Caliph which means successor in Arabic. But Aku Bakr was not welcomed by one group because he was a close friend and not a descendant of Muhammad. That group which is now named Shia wanted Ali, Muhammad’s son in law to be the next leader. After a while Ali did become leader after 3 other past leaders, but soon after that Ali was tragically assassinated. To this very day the groups called Sunni and Shia are still standing and Muslims still have no leader.
