it links the first and second subjects

ends the exposition by affirming the related key to which the music has modulated

ends the movement by affirming its tonic key

lots of dynamic contrast, use of fortepiano and sforzando and also use of silence
what kind of chords are used in the intro?
diminished 7ths
what is the melody of the intro like?
- has a 6-note motif
- scalic/virtuosic flourishes
- ends on long descending chromatic scale
- sequences
what sort of cadences are there?
perfect cadences at the end of the movement and an interrupted cadence in the introduction
what is the tempo marking for the exposition?
allegro di molto e con brio (very fast and with vigour)

- staccato
- rises scalically
- has sforzandos and crescendos from piano
