What is the Mool Mantar?
Believed to be composed by Guru Nanak, it is the basic creed (statement of belief) of the Sikhs.
“Mool” = essence.
“Mantar” = sacred speech.
Placed at the beginning of the GGS.
Recited in all Gurdwara services every time the GGS is read.
What are the main quotes from the Mool Mantar?
“Ek Onkar” = There is only one absolute god.
“Sat Nam” = Truth is his name.
“Karta Purkh” = Creator.
“Ajoni” = Unborn/Immortal.
“Saibhang” = Self-Existent.
“Jap” = Meditate on the Name.
“Nanak Hosi Bhi Such” = Nanak says God will be True forever.
What is the nature of Waheguru?
Omnipresent.
