Q

Who wrote Hebrews?

A

We don’t know.

Some think it’s Paul by writing style, but I personally think it’s too distinct (i.e. LOTS of OT language, less focus on justification and other NT Calvinistic topics, more focus on Christ as the perfect High Priest and connections to OT).

Q

What is the overarching Biblical narrative?

A

Creation –> Fall –> Redemption –> Restoration.

Man was created (able to sin or not sin) in the Garden to rule over the land and fulfill the Covenant of Works via perfect obedience. Man was tempted by Satan and sinned, breaking this covenant. God then promised a Savior, Jesus, who will redeem his fallen people on earth and restore (glorify) them to everlasting life in the new heavens and the new earth.

Q

How do we know the Bible is the Word of God?

A

“I choose to believe the Bible because it is a reliable collection of historical documents,
written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses, reporting supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies and claimed their writings are Divine and not of human origin.” - Voddie Baucham

17
Q

What Scriptures support the validity and importance of the Bible?

A

Hebrews 4:12 - “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword …”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

2 Peter 1 - “For we did not follow cleverly devised myths … we ourselves heard this very voice from heaven … For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

18
Q

What does is mean that the Bible is Inerrant and Infallible?

A

Inerrant - is actually without error, factually.
