Billie Jo-Eilish - Witness Statement Flashcards
(17 cards)
What is the number one reason I’m trying to have Byrd put in jail?
To avenge myself, as the burning of the dinner theater caused severe scarring to my lungs which will kill me within the next eight years.
What is my history with fires?
My father and brother died in a fire at my childhood home on the army base east of St. Leonard when I was 16 years old.
Where did I go to school and for what?
Mineral Area College and North Centra Missouri, for fire science and criminal justice.
What is my profession?
I’m a bartender and volunteer firefighter.
What is my rank as a firefighter?
Assistant chief, I’m qualified to be a chief or even marshal, but due to budget cuts the position wasn’t made available to me (and presumably won’t be until after I’m dead).
Why does my rank matter?
I can’t conduct a cause & origin (C&O) investigation into fires, and as a result can’t rule fires as being suspicious. I want to be a chief because my superior, Captain Jacqueline (or “Jackie”) Oh rules cases that I believe to be arson as having undetermined cause.
How long have I been a firefighter with the Wood County volunteer department?
11 years
Where was I on the night of the fire?
Working my bartending job at the Dukum Inn, which is on Sullivan Street in St. Leonard, Wood County
Where was the dinner theater?
The next town over, Pinewood.
What did I know about Byrd before the incident?
They moved here from Chicago in 2016, 4 years before the incident. They invested in the Blue Cat Lounge with an unknown partner, which went bankrupt in 2017. Rumor had it they hid cartel money there, but an FBI search proved otherwise.
Who else arrived to the scene with me?
Josh and Danny, two other volunteer firefighters. Their surnames are Jones and Barnett, but it is not specified who is who. Josh and I went in, while Danny worked on exterior suppression.
In what pattern did the fire burn across the curtains?
From the floor up, which would dispute Niko Tesli’s claim that the fire started from candles catching on the curtains (unless candles were on the floor, this would prove that the curtains caught after the floor had already burned). I have a certificate in fire science, unlike Tesli, so my judgement can be better trusted.
What other abnormal detail did I notice in the drawing room?
A large metal wastebasket, which had melted (partially, or else it would not be recognizable as a wastebasket).
What did I do after my respirator failed?
Ripped it off of my face in a blind panic, which is strange for a number of reasons. Almost all fire departments use SCBAs, which go around the full face and could not be easily ripped away. Taking it off also goes against emergency safety procedures, because even if the respirator doesn’t work it can still shield dust and debris.
What happened after I passed out?
Josh came back into the drawing room and found me, likely because of a PASS (signal unit used by firefighters that beeps loudly when the person using it doesn’t move for 30 seconds), but nothing about that was explicitly mentioned in my statement. Regardless, he dragged me out and started CPR. Another first responder came and took over for him, but I still couldn’t breathe. I got oxygen from a guest named Jeff who happened to have a tank.
When did Byrd arrive at the scene?
9:45 pm, coming from Plato which is 37 minutes away.
What did their clothing look like?
They were wearing a gold spandex costume with a feather boa.
