Bio C2 Flashcards
- Name 5 parts of an animal cell
Nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria, cell membrane, small vacuole
- Name 8 parts of a plant cell
Nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria, chloroplasts, cell membrane, cell wall, vacuole, ribosomes
- What is the function of ribosomes?
Making protein
- What is the function of the mitochondria?
Performing aerobic respiration
- What is the function of vesicles?
Contain liquids called cell sap to help the cell keep the shape that it is
- A very metabolically active cell is likely to have lots of which type of organelle
Cytoplasm
- State 2 functions of the nucleus
Order nucleus produce protein that the nucleus need
Protect the DNA which is a strain of code that contains cell’s features
- State the function of the cytoplasm
Perform metabolism
- What is the function of the cell wall and what is it made of?
Cell walls protects the cell from unknown organisms or chemicals and it is made of either of cellulose or lignin.
- What is the function of the permanent vacuole and what does it contain?
The permanent vacuole keeps the cell upright and supports the moisture of the cell and it contains a mixture of solutions called cell sap
- What is the function of chloroplasts?
To perform photosynthesis
- Define tissue, organ, organ system.
Tissue: a group of cells with similar structures working together to perform a shared function
Organ: a structure made up of a group of tissues working together to perform a specific function
Organ system: a group of organs with related functions working together to perform a body function
- Define magnification
The observed size of an image divided by the actual size of the image
- What is the formula to calculate magnification from image size and actual size?
Actual size÷image size = magnification
