photosynthesis
is a chemical reaction which takes place in plants. converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen
it uses light energy from sun to power chemical reaction which is absorbed by the green pigment chlorophyll this means its endofermic whole reaction takes place inside chloroplast
what is glucose for in photosynthesis
respiration stored as starch fats or oils to produce cellulose amino acids or protien synthesis
effect light intensity photosynthesis practicvle
- measure 20cm3 of sodium hydrogen carbonate solution pour into a boiling tube
- collect 10cm piece of pondweed and gently attach a paperclip to one end
- clam boiling tube ensuring you will be able to shine light into pomdweed
- place a metre rule next to clamp stand
- place lamp 10cm away from the pondweed
- wait two min until pondweed started to produce bubbles
- using stopwatch count the number of bubbles produced in a minuit
8.repeate stages 5-7 moving lamp 10cm away - repeat whole thing twice to ensure you have three readings for each distance
variables for light intensity photosynthesis required practicaol
independant-light inensity
dependant-amount of bubbles produced
control- same amount of time and pondweed
light intensity equATION
light intensity 1/distance2
respiration
is the chemical reaction which occurs inside the mitochondria of all living cells release energy for living functiond and processes e.g movement , warmth exothermic
aerobic
using oxygen
anerobic
without oxygen
oxygen debt
during vigorous exercise body carries out anarobic respiration produces lactic acid transported through bloodstreeme to liver liver converts to glucose oxygen needed for this reaction
