Evaluate two ethical issues of drug therapy
Lack of valid consent. Use of vulnerable people, patients undergoing therapy may not be in the fit mental state to give consent, or they may not fully understand what it is they’re taking and why.
Unethical as physical harm can be caused to the patient, there are side affects to drugs, eg physical harm such as headaches and nausea. They also will get an increased tolerance to drug, which gives a risk of addiction
Evaluate of Watson and Rayners methodology
A positive is the degree of control Watson and rayner had. Due to the environment in which research is conducted, they were able to control extraneous variables
Some egs of factors controlled within this research include the presentation of furry objects and the location of research.
Having this level of control is positive as it increases the experimental validity of the research therefore with such scientific methodology being used the research has scientific status and can be trusted over less scientific methods, where results can’t be quantified such as an open interview
Negative evaluation of Watson and Rayners methodology
One negative of this research is that there are question marks concerning the representativeness of the sample used and weather generalisations can be made
The sample consisted of one ppt Albert a reason he was chosen was due to his emtotional stability . The use of only one ppt with the charactersticd he possessed means it’s difficult to draw conclusions regarding weather the findings can be generalised to other children, who perhaps would have very different behavioural responses to Albert
If this is the case the results cannnot be generalised and would have limited application to society
