BIOLOGIAL ERQ (KMS) Flashcards

(8 cards)

1
Q

Discuss/Evaluate/Contrast the use of one or more techniques used to study the brain in relation to behaviour.

A

Mri scanning and PET scanning
Mri: done
PET: A PET scan (Positron Emission Tomography) shows brain activity.
• A person is given a radioactive tracer—often a form of glucose (sugar).
• Active brain areas use more glucose, so they absorb more of the tracer.
• The scanner detects this activity and creates a colorful 3D image of the brain.
• Brighter areas = more activity, duller areas = less activity.
