Define the term anti psychotics, atypical anti-psychotics and typical anti psychotics

A

antipsychotics- drugs used to reduce the intensity of symptoms, especially positive ones in psychotic conditions like schizophrenia.
typical antipsychotics- first generation of antipsychotic drugs used since the 1950s, that act as dopamine antagonists ie) chlorpromazine. (1000mg max for orally taking and can be taken in all forms)
atypical antipsychotics- second generation drugs, developed after typical antipsychotics to give more reduced side effects. Target neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine ie) risperidone or clozapine.
