Cell Membrane
In all cells
Separates interior of cell from outside environment
Protects and organizes cells
Mitosis phases
- Interphase
- Prophase
- Metaphase
- Anaphase
- Telophase
Meiosis Vs Mitosis
Misotis results in two identical daughter cells.
Meiosis results in double, or four sex cells.
Diploid
Cell that hhas paired chromosomes, one from each parent cells.
Haploid
Having single set of unpaired chromosomes.
Gamete
Organisms reproductive cells(sex cells)
Female gametes are ova or egg cells
Male gametes are called sperm.
Organelle that directly proives the most amount of energy is?
Ribosomes
All organelles work together to carry out?
Active transport
Human circulatory system in cells
Cells in the circulatory system carry out the same life function for the organism as cells in the system.
The concentration of CO2 will remain the same inside the cell.
The cell membrane is capable of receiving and recognizing chemical signals
Specific structure in a single celled organism
A flagellum is a structure in a single cell that makes way for movement. they can transport themselves quickly in sperm cells due to rapid movement.
Mitosis
Purpose is growth and repair
meiosis
purpose is genetic diversity
diffusion
Substances moving from where they are in greater concentration to where they are i lesser concentration
Diffusion what does it do
Regulates food, gases and waste products moving in and out of the cell.
osmosis
Movement of water from where it is in greater concentration to lesser concentration
osmosis what does it do
regulates hydration in and out of the cell, and in plants it controls turgor pressure.
Active transport
movement of ions or molecules across a cell membrane into a region of higher concentration.
Chloroplasts equation
Carbon dioxide + water — Glucose + water + oxygen
Hypotonic
A hypotonic solution has a lower concentration of solutes than another solution. hypotonic if it has a lower concentration of solutes relative to the cytosol. Due to osmotic pressure, water diffuses into the cell, and the cell often appears turgid, or bloated.
Hypertonic
A solution that contains more dissolved particles (such as salt and other electrolytes) than is found in normal cells and blood.
Natural selection
Natural selection is the process through which populations of living organisms adapt and change. Individuals in a population are naturally variable, meaning that they are all different in some ways.
